Locals of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-27 blocked Sunakothi Road since 7 am on November 4 by stopping the traffic by throwing stones on the road in protest of the contractor's failure to build the road on time. They are likely to continue the shutdown till 5 pm and to take strict action if the contractor did not come even during the agitation. The road closure has been going on since November 1. However, according to them, the agitation would be facilitated in a week if the contractors come to work from 10 am to 5 pm every day. 

The road is under Kanti Lokpath. The area of the damaged road, which is only in Sunakothi of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-27, is about two kilometers. There was an agreement between the contractor company and the road department to widen the road by 22 meters. At present, the road is 8 meters wide.The constructing contract of this road was given to Shailung Construction Company. The proprietor of the company is Sharda Prasad Adhikari, who is also the landlady of NCP’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.
