Flash mob against rape in Maitighar

2020-11-07

Activists from "how much should we endure" movement staged a flash mob to express their rage against increasing cases of rape in the country in recent days at Maitighar on November 7. The participants wearing black dress, masks and their eyes covered with black ribbons chanted slogans and displayed placards in a bid to pressurize the government to introduce stricter laws against the heinous crime and bring the culprits of various rape incidents to book at the earliest. They demanded the government ensure justice and safety to women and girls.

Several rounds of protests have been staged in the capital and other places of the country as rape cases keep on happening and the victims and their families are deprived of justice. One of the notorious rape incidents that took place on September 23 earlier this year, fueled protests against the crime across the country. Twelve-year-old Samjhana BK of Mashta Rural Municipality-2, a remote village in Bajhang, was murdered after rape in the incident.
