Visually impaired people of Kanchanpur started a hunger strike since November 18 demanding implementation of relief quota for the visually impaired women teachers at the Education Development and Coordination Unit Office, Mahendranagar.
They demanded the implementation of blind women teacher relief quota as well as employment of persons with disabilities in educational institutions including local, state, federal and far western universities.Not any Visually impaired woman has been appointed in any of the schools so far even after the state provided relief quota for the blind woman teachers
The leader of the protest said that they were forced to go on a hunger strike after the government did not implement the relief quota even when they submitted memorandum for multiple times . They announced to continue the strike until the implementation of relief quota is not done.
