Residents of Khokana obstructed the construction work accusing the government that the Kathmandu-Terai / Madhesh Expressway project created an entry point on their private land on November 20. According to them, the government is illegally forcibly demolishing settlements of archaeological and cultural significance.
Locals of Khokna, Bungmati and Dukuchhap have been saying that they will not be able to leave their land no matter how much compensation is fixed. The Nepal Army, which has been given the responsibility of constructing the expressway, admitted that some landowners including Lalitpur, Makwanpur and Kathmandu are yet to receive compensation for the land.
