Police fired warning shots in the air to control the situation after a clash with a group of smugglers including 8/9 people while preventing the smuggled goods passing through the border area at Materuwa of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-17 at around 4 am on November 22. A policeman has sustained minor injuries in a scuffle.
33-year-old woman, Rabina Khatun involved in the smuggling was arrested with a bag that she brought from India after the aerial fire. The other people involved in the incident are also being searched. Police said that strict monitoring has been started in the Nepal-India border area to control smuggling from Nepal to India and from India to Nepal.
