20-year-old Laxmi Das of Lahan Municipality-12 Bhotia Tol who married to 22-year-old Manilal Sah last year has reported that her in-laws and family members have been beating her after the court issued a protection order on a recent alimony case filed by her. She lamented that although the in-laws had agreed to let her live with them and provide food until the court's final verdict, they have been beating her regularly. She was only allowed to stay with them only after informing the police with the help of the local women's rights forum.
