Province 1, Sunsari, Dharan
Parents picketed and chanted slogans in the education department in Dharan Sub-metropolis against the charging of arbitrary fees due to the sub-metropolitan's delay in setting the fees of private schools on December 1.
Parents in Dharan have been demanding that the annual fee and online class fee be fixed at 50 per cent less than in the past. Similarly, they have demanded to refund all the fees including monthly and transportation charged by the schools before the lockdown, to monitor the effectiveness of online classes through the education department of the local government and to take action against the schools that collect fees without fixing the fees.
Mayor Tilak Rai assured the agitating parents that they would make a decision and issue a notice by the evening, so they did not continue the sit-in.
