Citizens affected by the inundation of Budhigandaki hydropower project staged a sit-in at the Environment, Compensation, Rehabilitation and Reinstatement Unit of the project under the leadership of the National Concern Committee demanding to take the project to the construction stage after finalizing the modalities and distribute compensation for the flood-affected houses immediately. The sit-in program started on December 2 and is likely to continue till December 9.
The concerned committee has informed the locals of the flood-affected areas of both the districts to take part in the sit-in alternately. Locals of 28 VDCs of Savik will be directly affected due to the 1,200 MW Budhigandaki hydropower project being constructed on the border of Gorkha and Dhading. The process of distributing land compensation for the construction of the project has reached the final stage.
