Human Rights and Peace Society has staged sit-ins and demonstrations in front of nine embassies in Kathmandu on the occasion of the 72nd International Human Rights Day demanding a ban on the production, testing and storage of nuclear weapons.
The society protested in front of the Pakistani and US embassies in Maharajganj as well as the Chinese and Russian embassies in Baluwatar. Demonstrations also took place at the Indian Embassy in Lanchaur, the British Embassy, the French Embassy, the Israeli Embassy and the North Korean Embassy in Lalitpur.
The society has demanded that Nepal, including the above-mentioned nations, ratify the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, ban the movement of arms, and take the initiative of the United Nations.
