Incidents of violence against women and children around the world have been overshadowed by the intricately frightening picture of the world being attacked by Covid-19. In Nepal too, horrific incidents of rape and murder have been becoming public in recent days. Every sector is plagued by patriarchal thinking that perpetuates the values of a patriarchal society. As a result, women become insecure within the family. The problem is exacerbated when the political leadership does not take such issues seriously.
Incidents of sexual violence or rape are the product of male-female power relations. Our religious, cultural ideology, the dignity of the family, and the social psychology of blaming women victims of violence are deeply rooted in the idea of oppressing and oppressing women. To break such psychology, everyone must be alert and vigilant. Such incidents have increased since the law enforcement agencies took the lead.
While statistics show that seven women are raped daily in Nepal, on an average, three Dalit women and girls are raped. According to the statistics obtained from 61 districts under seven states, three Dalit women and girls are raped daily. One Dalit woman and two Dalit girls are raped every day.
