The locals of Pathalaiya staged a demonstration on December 14, alleging the local government of Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan Municipality of Bara of ignoring the disappearance of the maps of the entire city six months after the appointment of new metropolitan chief Krishna Poudel.

The people started agitation after the map of Pathalaiya distributed by the squatters' commission in 2010 was not found at the survey office in Simara.

According to the locals, the then head of the survey office and some local leaders proposed to them to pay a separate amount to each householder in addition to the revenue of their land ownership papers. When they protested for this, then the map disappeared from the survey office.
