The team that came for soil testing for the construction of a bridge over the Madi River connecting Tanahu's Byas Municipality-3, Shantinagar and Byas Municipality-5, Patan was obstructed by some officials of Shantinagar Area Development Institution.

Residents of Shantinagar demanded to construct the bridge at the same place where the suspension bridge is located and the soil of the same place should be tested even when the test is already done and the team said that the construction is not possible in that area. Residents of Patan picketed Byas Municipality after obstruction for soil testing requesting Mayor to create an environment conducive to work.
