Police have arrested 45-year-old Jatan Chaudhary of Mirchaiya Municipality-9 on January 11 on the charge of beating 59-year-old Basu Chaudhary of the same place accusing her of witchcraft practices.

After a local died from a heart attack, Basu was blamed for his death and beaten by the neighbours; 28-year-old Ajit Chaudhary, 35-year-old Kisun Chaudhary and 45-year-old Indula Chaudhary and thrown out of the village on January 8. According to police, the search is on as others are absconding.
