The indigenous "Majhi" community of the affected areas of Ramechhap Sindhuli filed a complaint at the National Human Rights Commission on January 29 to protect their social rights. They allege that the construction of the Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Project has been carried out ignoring the religious and cultural aspects of the locals.
They further allege the government for not discussing the issues like land acquisition and compensation with them. Accordingly, they also demanded to abide by the international agreements related to the interests of the indigenous community.
