30-year-old Asif Deula, a resident of Budhanilakantha has been injured after being beaten by traffic police in Gongabu Bus Park of Kathmandu on February 12 after a heated dispute about him not wearing helmet. He stated that he was not wearing helmet at the time because of a ritual but failed to show any proof to the traffic police. The traffic police assaulted Deula after he refused to follow the traffic police to police office. Seeing this another traffic police also joined the dispute and assaulted Deula.

Deula sustained minor injuries in the incident and was taken to People's hospital for treatment. The traffic police constables are identified as Bibek Nakal and Devananda Sah. Inspector Shankar Shrestha of traffic police stated that they are investigating the incident.
