A clash broke out between police and protesters at Khalangama district headquarters after locals of Guthichaur Rural Municipality-3, Gajyangkot, picketed the District Police in Jumla, claiming that a local 14-year-old boy Padam Budha had died from the police beatings.
Meanwhile, police used batons and tear gas to disperse the crowd. More than half a dozen relatives of the deceased have been injured in the clash.
Seven of his friends, including Budha, were at the District Police Office on January 31 for the interrogation on the charge of mobile theft. And the district police stated that he was released after discussion and interrogation. Budha went to the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences for treatment of his injured leg. Due to this serious condition, he was shifted to ICU but he died while undergoing treatment on February 12.
