All Nepal National Independent Students' Union (Revolutionary), a party close to the Chand-led CPN group staged a protest rally in Nepalgunj, demanding action against the rapists and murderers of Nirmala Pant, Bhagarathi Bhatta and Samjhana BK. More than 4,000 students participated in the rally. Student leaders and cadres from all units of Banke, Bardiya, Surkhet, Jajarkot and Midwestern Universities participated in the demonstration.

After protesting in various places of Nepalgunj, the rally turned into a corner meeting which was addressed by the leaders of student organizations. Most of the leaders who addressed the meeting expressed the view that those involved in heinous crimes such as murder and rape should be sentenced to death.
