NC cadres hold symbolic protest against govt's attempt to regulate social media content

Seen in these pictures are youth activists affiliated to the main opposition Nepali Congress staging a symbolic protest against Prime Minister KP Sharma led government for a provision stating that a person could be jailed if they post, share, like or comment on social media things that are against the government, in Kathmandu, on Saturday.Earlier, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung had announced that the government will bring new directives to prevent online media and social networking sites from spreading hateful messages. The proposal has drawn much flak towards the incumbent government and the decision has been regarded as the government's attempt to curb freedom of expression as guaranteed by the Constitution of Nepal
