Young students staged a symbolic protest in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu on April 2 carrying plants and banners with messages calling for environmental conservation. The students accused the government of ignoring the public health crisis caused due to wildfire and air pollution. Police arrested 9-10 protestors during the demonstration.
The students also demanded the declaration of an environmental emergency. They further expressed their indignation to the Ministry of Environment for not coming up with any long-term plan for environmental improvement despite Kathmandu listed as one of the most polluted cities in the world.
