A group of five drunk youths, on April 13, verbally and physically assaulted Raju Chaudhary, a hardware store businessman in Mahhotari, and his son Gaurav Chaudhary. They even looted Rs. 3 lakhs and a dozen of mobile phone sets from the shop.
Protesting against the incident, local businessmen padlocked the Mahottari Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Matihani, since April 14 demanding their safety. After their protest, the president of the association Mohan Prasad Gupta also expressed solidarity with the businessmen and joined them in agitation against the police administration. Matihani Chamber of Commerce and Industry warned further struggle programs if no strict legal action is taken against the culprits.
