Five in-laws arrested on charge of domestic violence in Parsa

Police arrested five family members on May 23, on the charge of assaulting 26-year-old Sony Shah of Birgunj-14, Parsa. The father-in-law Munilal Shah, two brothers-in-law 27-year-old Prabhakar Kumar Shah and 30-year-old Diwakar Kumar Shah, and 20-year-old sister-in-law Anita Kumari are among those arrested.
The victim had lodged a complaint against family members on May 23
alleging that she had been suffering from domestic violence since her marriage in the context of dowry. She alleged that her brother-in-law Prabhakar hit on her head with an iron rod on May 22. The victim who sustained head injuries had returned home after receiving treatment at a local clinic. According to Ward Police Office, Sripur, Sony's husband is absconding.
