Muna Khanal, who was living in a squatter settlement near the Manohara settlement of Lokanthali in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality Ward No. 1 was brutally beaten over witchcraft allegations on May 22. Muna was severely injured from the beating and is currently at home. The victim said that the accused took her money and mobile phone so she was not able to go to the hospital due to lack of money. Muna is a practitioner of spiritual healing for a long time.
According to eyewitnesses, Muna was beaten by Alisa Thakuri, Suresh Tamang, Radhika Magar, Anil Alemgar, Laxmi Maya Tiche, Suman Majhi, Alendra Tamang, Sanjay Budhathoki, Mary Gurung, and Ganga Gurung. The accused calling themselves the 'Jayanari group' gathered outside the house and kicked Muna in front of the police. Savitri Subedi has formed 'Jai Nari Samuha' by gathering more than 50 women in squatter settlements.
