Locals stage a protest against the increase in the garbage at Setighat in Gagangonda of Pokhara Metropolitan City-32. Earlier, locals agreed on the burial of corona-infected bodies, however, they are agitated with the increasing garbage pile. Protestors complained that they only allowed burial at the beginning but now the bodies are cremated.
Ward Chairman Akkal Bahadur Karki said that a lot of PPE, medical gloves, and ropes were tied around the burial place in an unorganized manner. Karki complained that no action has been taken even after informing the covid control committee and even when the metropolis has formed a team a month ago to manage the garbage.
The metropolis informed that they have received information about the piling of garbage at the mortuary and are preparing to go for monitoring on June 1.
