A sit-in was staged by 17 members of the Consumers' Committee and laborers who worked on the construction of an embankment on the Kamala River to control floods since they were not paid for their work. The Kamala River Control Project Office had not paid 17 consumer committees in Dhanusha, Siraha, and Sindhuli.
Embankments were built in Hathmunda, Harine, Dudhauli, Dakaha, Chikana, Paterwa, Nidaina, Bandipur, Chisapani, and other places to control floods in the Kamala River. Ekraj Bhattarai, the office's chief, stated that there is some delay in payment due to the Ministry of Finance's approval of the program.
