Under the leadership of the Nepal Student Union (NSU), a protest was staged in Lahan at Sahid Chowk on June 2 against the government's announcement during a budget speech to open stone, ballast, and sand extraction. The protest was led by NSU's Central Vice President and State 2 Coordinator Sanjay Yadav.
Protestors allege the Oli government for acting treacherously by inserting a program to reduce the trade deficit by extracting stones, ballast, and sand. They accused the government of being insensitive to the environment and Chure conservation. '
