Locals attacked the police in Dharapani of Dhanushadham Municipality-9 on June 12 while they were trying to control illegal production and sales of liquor. A team led by Inspector Pradip Subedi of the Area Police Office Dhalkebar seized 1,050 liters of raw material and 60 liters of liquor on the basis of special information that illegal liquor was being produced and sold in some houses in Dharapani.
According to Inspector Subedi, the locals surrounded the police, pelted stones at them, and abused them. Police said that the glass of the police van ( plate number 1 Jha 1211) was damaged due to the attack by about 150 people. Police constable Raju Khan was injured.
Sushila Thapa, Laxmi Sah, and Shravan Kapar of Dharapani were arrested along with two men and a woman involved in the incident. Police had seized 765 liters of raw material from Sushila's house, 60 liters of ready-made liquor and 90 liters of raw material from Maya Ale's house, and 195 liters of raw material from Bechu Magar's house.
