Shripati Devi, a 65-year-old resident of Mithuawa village in Madhav Narayan Municipality-5 of Rautahat was brutally beaten on the charge of being involved in witchcraft activities. A group of locals including Sandeep Mahara allegedly attacked the woman's head, arms, ears, and other parts of her body. The woman who was seriously injured in the beating is undergoing treatment in Chandrapur.
The seriously injured woman's husband had died ten years ago and her son had also died during the armed conflict. After the death of her son, Sandeep's family had been accusing the woman of being a witch. The main accused Sandeep Mahara is absconding and the police are searching for him. Police informed that a case has been registered against the accused Mahara.
