Youths staged a symbolic protest with black blindfolds in Banke on June 26 in support of Rupa Sunar, who was denied a room in Kathmandu due to her caste. They protested against Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha took the accused Saraswati Pradhan home in a government flagged vehicle, accusing the state of protecting caste discrimination. More than 30 independent youths from Kohalpur in support of youths of the non-Dalit community participated in the rally.
Stating that Rupa is a representative character fighting against injustice, journalist Sobhakar Bishwakarma, who participated in the protest, said that they will continue protesting till justice is served.
