Dalit rights activists in Makwanpur staged a demonstration at Budwachowk in Hetauda on June 29 demanding the resignation of Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha and justice for Rupa Sunar. They also demanded an end to the mistreatment of Dalits across the country and maintaining the reservation given to Dalits as compensation.
Saraswati Pradhan of Kathmandu, who was arrested on the charge of not renting a room to Rupa Sunar for being a Dalit, was released and Minister Shrestha took her in a government vehicle.
