A clash took place between police and locals in Brindawan of Rautahat as police attempted to disperse a group of local women staging a sit-in in front of the municipality's gate. During the clash, police fired a half-dozen tear gas shells at the protesters. The clash resulted in the injuries of some residents and police officers.
For the last three days, local women have been protesting at the main gate of the municipality alleging irregularities in the amount of money coming to the municipality. They demanded that a budget of Rs 1.5 million should be allocated for women in each ward and Rs 1.5 million for Dalits in each ward and a complete set of gas stoves, including a set of cylinders, for each household in the municipality. During the clash, the protesters vandalized a police mini truck (Na 1 Ga 501) and pelted stones at the police post-Bishrampur.
