The NIC Asia Bank Employees' Union staged a protest at NIC Asia Bank's head offices and provincial offices across the country on July 2 against the social security fund launched by the Government of Nepal, calling it discriminatory and unjust. The union has staged protests putting forward various demands.
The union appealed to the stakeholders to address the suggestions made earlier by the employees' unions of banks, financial institutions, and insurance companies in the rules and procedures of the Social Security Fund Act. The union further stated that it will not be able to participate in the scheme as some points of the scheme need to be modified in the interest of the employees and the current discriminatory system is in danger of losing the achievements of the past.
