Employees of Banks in BIrgunj staged a demonstration on Monday against the government's attempt to force them to join the Social Security Fund. Employees and banks and financial institutions have been reluctant to join the Social Security Fund saying that it would result in a reduction of benefits they have been currently receiving.
Speaking at the protest Birgunj Banker group chairperson Nitesh Khadki said that they were compelled to protest as the social security fund had failed to address the concerns put forward by Bank and Financial Institutions Employees union.
