The United Democratic Alliance (UDA)  staged a protest at Pakhribas in Dhankuta on July 6. Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center, CPN-UML's Madhav faction and Janata Samajwadi Party-affiliated coalition staged a protest demanding the unconditional release of the arrested ward chairman Sovit Niraula and withdrawal of the case filed in the incident.

Leaders and cadres of Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center, CPN-UML's Madhav faction and Janata Samajwadi Party rioted and vandalized the eighth municipal council of Pakhribas Municipality on June 24  saying that the budget ceiling was fixed on the basis of political bias. Half a dozen windows were shattered and dozens of chairs were smashed.

A FIR was lodged against 15 persons on behalf of Pakhribas Municipality for their involvement in the incident. Sovit Niraula, Ward Chairman of Pakhribas-4, was arrested by the police on July 1 after a complaint was lodged with the police. The remaining 14 are absconding. They staged a protest demanding the withdrawal of the case registered against them and the unconditional release of the arrested ward chairman Niraula.
