Child development facilitators and school staff started agitation in various municipalities of the Sarlahi district demanding to get the minimum wage fixed by the government. After the local level officials refused to pay the increased wages, they started holding sit-ins in the municipality and other agitation programs.
The federal government had mentioned in the budget announcement of the coming fiscal year 2021/22 that the salary of child development and school staff would be increased to Rs. 15,000. The federal government will provide Rs 8,000 and the local level Rs 7,000. But the local government has not complied with the federal government's decision. They are showing a lack of budget. The local levels have not allocated a budget for next year's budget as per the announcement of the Federal Government on Child Development. According to them, 17 local levels are reluctant to provide child development and school staff salaries
