Employees of Bangad Municipality stage sit-in over non-payment of salaries

The Far Western Committee of the Nepal Teachers Federation staged a sit-in in front of the office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers in Dhangadhi on July 16 demanding the provision of the minimum wage announced by the government.

The government led by KP Sharma Oli had announced to pay a minimum salary of Rs 15,000 to the child development teachers and staff of community schools in the current fiscal year 2021/22. The Nepal Teachers Federation has stated that they started agitation saying that the declaration has not been implemented after the fall of the Oli-led government. In the first phase, the federation had submitted a memorandum to the federal government, state and local levels.
