After an unmarried woman from Palpa's Tansen Municipality gave birth to a child on July 14, a 10-month-old rape incident was revealed. The newborn baby fell ill and was taken to Lumbini Medical College, Palpa for treatment, however, the newborn died while undergoing treatment. According to police, the woman was raped by 44-year-old Ajurna BK of Tansen Municipality. The investigation against the accused started after the raped woman lodged a complaint on July 19.
