A 35-year-old woman health volunteer in Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolis-14, Rajaul, was allegedly beaten up and forced to eat human excrement by her five neighbours over witchcraft allegations on July 16. According to the victim's husband, 48-year-old Mangal Mahara, 45-year-old Sumintradevi Mahara, 27-year-old Sanjit Mahara, 20-year-old Rabin Mahara and 26-year-old Devki Devi Mahara had beaten her and tried to feed her excrement.
The victim said that she was accused of making her neighbour's kids and livestock sick by using witchcraft techniques. After the victim's husband informed the police about the incident, she was rescued by the Mujelia Police Post and admitted to the Janakpur Provincial Hospital for treatment.
