Kathmandu, August 1
Health workers of the Bir Hospital, one of the biggest health institutions of the Kathmandu valley, have started a new round of protests on Sunday.
Police interfered in their demonstration, resulting in a clash. Four persons have been injured in the clash, informs Deepak Mudbhari, one of the protesting staff.
The workers say they are protesting reported irregularities made by the hospital’s chief Dr Jageshwar Gautam. Converting the oldest health facility of the country into the Covid-19 Unified Hospital, the government had sent Dr Gautam to lead the hospital a few months ago.
But, the workers say Dr Gautam could not make any reforms in the hospital, instead indulged himself in irregularities.
Meanwhile, the workers also complain they have been deprived of various allowances including the Covid-19 risk allowance for the past eight months.
