Police arrested Ram Shrestha, a 39-year-old resident of Makwanpur Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan Ward No. 4 on the charge of strangling his 23-year-old pregnant wife Ranju Tamang to death on August 11. The couple were staying in a flat near the Bagmati plant in Guheshwari of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 8. The victim was six months pregnant.
According to the police, Ram Shrestha strangled his wife to death over a general dispute. Ranju's body was found in the bed. No other injuries were seen on her body. Ram Shrestha himself informed the police about the incident. He even cut his hand with a knife. He was treated at KMC Hospital in Kathmandu, police said. He is now under police control.
