39-year-old Ambika Devi Yadav (name changed) of Brahmapuri rural municipality-7, Naukelwa accused the ward chairperson Shyam Kumar Yadav of attempting to rape her. According to her, the chairperson assaulted her at 2 am by entering the house during the night on August 21, when she was alone in the house. She was able to save herself by crying loudly for help. The victim's house is in the same neighborhood as the perpetrator house and she mentioned that he had tried to abuse her before as well. Her husband is in Qatar since 2 years for employment.
The accused is absconding ever since and is yet to be found. However, the brother of ward chairperson stated that, some people in the village are trying to frame his brother due to political reasons and enmity from past conflicts in the village. The villagers along with the victim filed case against the chairperson at District Police Office, Malangawa last Sunday afternoon.
