Paper course contract teachers padlocked the office of Rajarshi Janak University in Janakpur indefinitely demanding contract appointments. The agitating teachers padlocked the office of Vice-Chancellor Bharat Jha and Registrar Mahendra Prasad Yadav on September 8 as part of the third phase of the agitation. The protesting teachers are working on a paper course contract since the inception of the university and have been agitating for the past one month demanding contract appointments.
Earlier, they had protested by wearing black cloth on their heads from August 8 to 13 and a sit-in at the main entrance of the university from August 24. After the teachers started agitation, the teaching of the university came to a standstill. Dilip Kumar Yadav, the coordinator of Rajarshi Janak University Paper Contract Teachers Association, said that Vice-Chancellor Jha did not come to the office after the agitation started.
