Ward chair vandalizes Kathmandu metropolitan city office

2021-09-10

Kathmandu, September 10

The chairman of Kathmandu metropolitan city ward number 5 has vandalised the central office of the Kathmandu metropolitan city on Friday. Doors of the offices of the Chief Administrative Officer Rajeshwar Gyawali, Administration Department head Mahesh Kaphle and deputy head Yuba Raj Khanal have been destroyed, according to an official. Ward chair Ramesh Dangol also accepts he vandalised the office over the transfer of an engineer working at the ward office. “I was tolerating for two years when there was a non-performing engineer before they sent another engineer as I demanded two months ago,” he says, “But, now, they transferred that engineer elsewhere. No one claimed acted responsibly when I asked them about it, and this incident is the result.” Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya is preparing to make Dangol compensate for the loss he caused, an official says. “There are other ways to present your differences; it is condemnable that he resorted to vandalism.” Dangol, however, says he raised his voice as the city government’s decision severely affected the service delivery in his ward, causing injustice to people.
