Paltu Mandal, 60, of Dhanushadham Municipality-5 has been arrested by the Area Police Office, Dhanushadham on September 20 on the charge of raping a 12-year-old girl.

The accused had raped the girl on September 2 while she was going to the field to cut grass.

Chairman of Dhanushadham Municipality-5 Indal Mahato said that the accused was arrested from his house on the basis of a verbal complaint from the victim. Ward Chairman Mahato also demanded legal action against the culprit.

Inspector Suresh Thakur of the Area Police Office Dhanushadham said that the victim has been requested to lodge a complaint against the accused.

Inspector Thakur said that there was no health check-up as there was no formal complaint from the victim.
