Residents of Gorkha and Dhading, who are in sit-in protest since September 20, staged a demonstration with slogans in Kathmandu on September 26, demanding immediate implementation of the Budhigandaki Hydro-power project. Residents of the affected areas have demanded to start the project soon saying that the development work in the project area has come to a standstill and they are in a position to become squatters.
Because of the increasing risk of flood, project-affected people complained that no work has been done about the project for the last two years, they have not been compensated and rehabilitation work has not been done. The demonstrators demanded that the project should run immediately by fulfilling the legitimate demands rather than doing politics.
