Anti Corruption activists have been demonstrating in front of Sabaila Municipality Office, Dhanusa since September 20 after the municipality didn't provide the information about costs incurred in local construction requested by filing Right to Information(RTI) on June 6.  A municipality level Joint Stuggle Committee against Corruption has been formed in the coordination of a local activist Suresh Yadav stating huge corruption in mobilizing developmental budget. The activists had demanded information about the budget allocation and cost incurred in 9 topics including road construction and maintenance, education, health, agriculture, COVID expenses, and fuel costs.

Some of the specific information asked by filing RTI includes providing name list of people who received relief during COVID lockdown, income and expenditure balance sheet of project to make Ram Janaki Secondary school a model school, DPR of  Durgapath and reason for the cancellation of project, cost incurred in construction of municipality building etc.

The protestors mentioned that, they were forced to organize a sit-in since 8 days as municipality didn't provide information, which they had demanded almost 3 months earlier. The locals are also supporting the protest. Meanwhile, the mayor of Sabaila Municipality, Bijay Shankhar Shah said that the municipality couldn't provide information then, due to lack of manpower during the time of heightened COVID crisis. He mentioned the willingness of  the municipality administration  to provide those information now, and also blamed some youth for organizing the protest due to political enmity.
