Youth Congress Nepal Kaski has protested against the VAT imposed on sanitary pads used by women during menstruation.
A symbolic protest was staged at Manavadhikar Chowk in Chipledhunga, Pokhara, demanding repeal of the red tax imposed on sanitary pads by the government.
They warned that charging tax instead of making sanitary pads free would encourage health mafias and have sworn to make the protest stronger if the government did not waive the tax on sanitary pads.
In the protest, they demanded the removal of all taxes levied on all menstrual-related materials and the management of the materials in a way that is easily accessible to women.
