Bhim Bahadur Bishwakarma, a 58-year-old Dalit man from Bharatpur Metropolitan City-4, was beaten to death by his neighbours Sitaram Basnet and Dilip Shrestha. According to neighbours, Bhim was beaten on October 14, the eve of Dashain. Under the influence of alcohol, Bhim began making disparaging remarks about his neighbours Sitaram and Dilip. Sitaram has admitted that they beat Bhim with a plastic pipe because he said offensive words. Shortly after the assault, Bhim fell unconscious. The accused Sitaram then took Bhim to the hospital in an ambulance. Bhim, who fell unconscious, was to be sent to Bharatpur Hospital but was rushed to Chitwan Medical College (CMC). But soon after, the doctor announced Bhim's death. Bhim's step-daughter has alleged that he was not taken to the government hospital as Sitaram has connections in CMC. The post-mortem report shows that Bhim was injured in the back of the head after the beating. After it was confirmed that Bhim had died due to the beating of Dilip and Sitaram, the relatives have lodged a complaint at the District Police Office, Chitwan.
