The Communist Party of Nepal, led by Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav), staged a demonstration in Kathmandu against the rising prices of petroleum products. They demanded the immediate repeal of the price hike and chanted the slogan that MCC should be abolished and a referendum should be declared. They announced a program of phased agitation against the rise in prices of petroleum products. General Secretary Biplav issued a statement on November 11, announcing programs ranging from nationwide protests to Nepal Bandh against the rise in prices of petroleum products.

Nepal Oil Corporation has doubled the price of fuel in the last 10 days. The corporation has increased the price of gas by Rs 75 to Rs 1,575 per cylinder with effect from Wednesday night, while the price of petrol, diesel and kerosene has been increased by Rs 3 per liter.
