Facilitators and school staff padlocked the Sarkegard rural municipality's office of Humla after their salaries were not increased. Pragati Primary School's facilitator Rupsi Chhatyal informed that they were forced to padlock the office as the salary of facilitators and staff were not paid the increased salaries.
Similarly, Hans Bahadur Chhatyal, Child Development Facilitator of Dudhkand Primary School, Rodikot, said that all the facilitators and school staff had padlocked the school saying that the village municipality had not paid the increased salary. He said that strict action had to be taken to put pressure on Sarkegard as most of the village municipalities in the district had arranged salaries for child development facilitators and school staff from internal sources.
There are 32 schools in Sarkegard village municipality. It has four secondary schools and 28 primary and basic schools. Child development classes have been conducted in all the basic and primary schools. As many as 60 people including 32 school staff and child development workers have started agitation.
Meanwhile, the village municipality has stated that only Rs. 2,000 received through the budget can be given to other employees. The school has stated that it has not been able to provide the salary facility to the child development and school staff due to a lack of internal resources. Earlier, Simkot and Tanjakot municipalities have already provided an increased salary.
