Students of Nepal Geeta Gajendra Raj Joshi Secondary School located at Parwanipur Bazaar in Birgunj-21 staged a protest demanding English and science subject teachers. They blocked the road of Birgunj-Pathlaiya road section from 11:30 am to 2:00 am on November 29. Earlier, students had staged a demonstration in Lipanivirta ward three days ago.

Police used force during the protest. More than ten students were injured in the incident. The injured are identified as Laxmina Patel, Sonu Patel, Akhilesh Mandal, Prem Raj Mandal, Subodh Patel and Rahul Dewan. They all were studying in Grade-10. The injured students are undergoing first aid treatment at a nearby health post. According to Parsa Police Spokesperson DSP Omprakash Khanal, 13 rounds of tear gas were fired to control the situation.

The school, which has about 800 students, offers classes from kindergarten to Grade 10. The school has 4 teachers and 11 teachers. According to the student, reading has been affected as four out of 15 teachers are absent daily. The students have accused the teacher of not going to teach the students even in the laboratory and computer room. The principal of the school, Raj Kumar Singh, said that the students had started agitation due to internal problems. He also expressed his solidarity with the students' movement. He said that coordination is being held with the concerned bodies to solve the problem.
